Commercial Solutions

SOLAR

At Energy Concepts we specialise in solar panel installations that give your business the opportunity to save money on your energy bills by harnessing power from the sun.

Installing solar panels for your business will:

  • Greatly improve your cashflow by reducing your energy expenditure
  • Improve your company’s green status and green credentials
  • Reduce your impact on the environment by reducing your carbon emissions
  • Move you towards grid independence, fuelling your everyday energy demands

Solar energy is the most abundant energy source we have. Installing commercial solar panels will help to power your business during daylight hours and the excess energy can be stored for use in darker hours by linking it to a TAE Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) For large commercial sites we can also arrange for excess energy to be sold to local businesses at a preferred rate giving an even quicker return on investment.

With the grid currently struggling to generate a significant electricity supply to meet the UK’s growing energy demands, and the government’s recent introduction of mandatory energy audits for large businesses via the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and possible future energy usage regulation, independent solar installations are an excellent backup measure and give businesses the energy security that they require.

Every solar project is different, the cost of an installation is based on the size of the system and the time it takes to install. The other varying factor is where your panels are going to be placed and how easy it is for our install team to get them there. If planning permission is required, we can provide full assistant or complete applications on your behalf to ensure the process is as quick and easy as possible.

Energy Concepts specialist team of engineering planners and installers assist throughout the whole process including:

  1. The first step is to analyse your information, usage, and data to optimise the size of system most suitable for your business based on your motivation for installing Solar PV.
  2. Once we have determined the correct system and system size, we will put a preliminary proposal together which will include:
  • Size and approximate layout of the solar system
  • Output
  • Utilisation of the solar power
  • Capital Cost and funding options
  • Calculated savings
  • Operational costs
  • Return on investment projection
  • Carbon reduction figures

A preliminary proposal is sufficiently detailed enough to allow us to review why a solar array may or may not be right for your business before either party commits fully to the project.

  1. Once the preliminary survey has been discussed and agreed, the next step is to fully assess the proposed location. Our technical survey usually involves visiting the site again to measure and understand the different variables on site.

Our technical survey includes:

  • G99 application
  • Independent structural assessment
  • Roof condition survey where relevant
  • Scaffold and access assessment
  • Electrical integration assessment
  • Health and safety appraisal

During this site visit we endeavour to gather all of the required information, but additional visits may be necessary particularly if the project is complex or the scope changes as a result of our technical survey.

  1. Assuming the outcome of the survey is positive, we will return to you with a formal proposal.

This proposal will be similar to the preliminary version but will include a much more detail around how we would deliver the project. We confirm the system design, the timescales involved and the level of any disruption or power outages.

  1. Once you have agreed to move forward with your project and have signed our supply and installation contract, we will assist you in applying for a Permitted Development application or a full planning application.

A solar array qualifies for Permitted Development when:

  • The total installed capacity is under 1MW
  • The panels sit now more than 200mm from the plane of the roof
  • There is a 1m border between the outer panels and the roof
  • If ground mounted the footprint of the array is less than 9m2

If your solar array does not satisfy all of the above criteria, then a full planning application will be required.

  1. As soon as we have the appropriate permissions in place we move into the delivery and installation phase working closely with your team ensure minimum disruption whilst also supplying regular progress reports throughout.

    7. Once we have successfully delivered the system and it has been in operation for several weeks, we will arrange handover taking you through the various procedures you might need to be aware of.

We will also run you through your online management and monitoring portal so that you can check the real-time performance of the array and we also set an automated monthly report that is sent to your team once a month.

  1. Our commercial solar installations integrate seamlessly into your business operation without the need for additional management.

We do offer bespoke support operations and maintenance packages for your system ranging from a once-a-year MOT up to a full-time monitoring program which can include an immediate action approach if the system seems be under-performing.
